The hostel "La sosta" overlooks the main square of the small village of Varengo in the township of Gabiano, close to Monferrato. Guests stay in the building that was once the Town Hall, and was then completely restored for the Winter Olympic games in 2006.
The hostel has got four bedrooms furnished in a practical way without compromising any of its comfortable and welcoming atmosphere:
The hostel has also got a kitchen and a dining room where breakfast can be served if requested.
Our hostel is ideally situated for people who like spending their holiday for their relaxation, and being close to nature. It is also a perfect starting point for those who want to visit Monferrato with its castles, small villages, and its many cultural attractions.
The hostel is completely open in 2011 from 20th March to 30th November, though it is possible to arrange for stays during Winter as well.
Our guests will be able to sample the typical cuisine of Monferrato in the restaurants nearby.
Raffaella and Silvio own the hostel, and live very close so that they can be 'good neighbours' for the guests. They have three children each, also keeping a dog, a goose, and two cats. They have long held a dream to take care of a place where people can stop and rest somewhere that offers something different, a place where one can enjoy landscapes, smells, tastes, traditions, stories, emotions and good company for a memorable and treasured stay away from the usual home.
Raffaella and Silvio have been health professionals all their working lives: Raffaella is a health care worker, and Silvio is a nurse. They both share their interest for the environment, country life, spirituality, and everything concerned with the arts, including theatre, poetry, music and literature.
Both Raffaella and Silvio are ready to get involved in this new and exciting venture, looking forward to being able to welcome everyone who stops at "La sots". Guests will always be given the space they need for peace and quiet, but the owners will also be available to act as guides through the ancient paths, streets, paths and woods in the area so that guests can know the local area and its people a bit better before returning home.
